Huon’s Projects and Engineering team are on the hunt for a qualified Fabricator to join the team at our Port Huon workshop.

The role

Reporting to the Workshop Manager, you will:

• Maintain and upgrade a variety of steel and aluminium vessels in Huon’s Fleet from ocean going ships to small Dinghies.
• Undertake vessel construction and modifications, including a variety of projects on land and water.

This opportunity is a full-time position operating on a 4 days on, 3 days off roster. Above award wages and overtime rates apply.

About you

• You have trade qualifications and experience in relevant discipline and are competent in MIG and TIG welding stainless and aluminium.
• You are confident in your ability to fabricate and assemble as per engineers and shop drawings.
• You have excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate in small or large teams on projects.
• Problem solving skills and contribution to design and engineering projects.
• You are enthusiastic and self-motivated with a positive attitude.
• You have a keen eye for detail and a proactive focus on continually looking to improve processes.
